Overview

Tanjung Sepat Ocean Seafood Restaurant (海洋海鲜餐馆) sits quietly along the main road of Lorong 2, Jalan 3 in Tanjung Sepat, Selangor. This spot has earned a steady following over the years, drawing locals and visitors who crave fresh seafood served with sincerity and hearty flavors. The restaurant’s unassuming facade hides a rich experience centered on traditional Malaysian seafood cuisine.

The menu here stands out for its carefully prepared dishes that highlight the freshness of the sea. Signature plates like 螃蟹炒米粉 (crab fried vermicelli), Gong Po Mantis Shrimp, and Tofu Crabmeat Seafood Soup showcase the kitchen’s skill in balancing spices and textures. These dishes are paired wonderfully with simple vegetable sides like 清炒番薯叶 (stir-fried sweet potato leaves) and Kai Lan, which offer a light, green contrast to the richer seafood flavors.

One cannot overlook the specialty soup—a fish head stewed with bitter gourd—which combines robust savory notes with a delicate bitterness that cuts through the richness. Its reputation is well-earned, often praised for both taste and portion size. Other crowd-pleasers include the hotplate oyster omelette and the curry stingray, each served in generous portions that encourage sharing and lingering over the meal.

The restaurant’s atmosphere is casual and approachable, suited for families, couples, and small groups seeking an authentic seafood dining experience without pretense. Space-wise, it’s cozy, and post-pandemic seating arrangements mean larger groups might find tables slightly reduced in capacity, but this adds to the intimate dining feel. The staff, including the friendly owner, enhances the experience by offering helpful guidance on portion sizes to avoid food wastage—a thoughtful touch that shows their care for patrons.

While the surroundings might seem commercial at a glance, the quality found inside is far from ordinary. The flavors are honest, cooked with care and freshness that beckons return visits. Diners can expect balanced seasoning with MSG levels kept in check, ensuring the focus remains on natural seafood taste.

Overall, Tanjung Sepat Ocean Seafood Restaurant excels in delivering a genuine taste of Malaysian coastal cuisine. It’s a destination for those who appreciate hearty seafood dishes served generously, complemented by warm service in a straightforward yet inviting setting. Whether you’re revisiting after years or discovering it for the first time, it delivers a satisfying, down-to-earth feast.

11 May 2024. We have not been to Tanjung Sepat for more than 10 years. In the morning decided to revisit the place and see if there is any changes. Surprisingly, today is Saturday and not many visitors around. For lunch, found this place through so post. The boss took our order and is a funny guys. We ordered a fish head stewed with bitter gourd, the shop specialty soup, osters eggs, a veggy and very fresh prawn with cooking wine. All taste good. MSG level , acceptable.

20231113-So we are back after 2 years... =) Food quality remains good. Don't mind coming back again. This time we are back with our 5 years old. All of us likes their food. Definitely will come back again. By far the best services restaurant we have tried in this area. Food is very delicious and tasteful, portion is generous, price is reasonable, just don't expect low price range in this restaurant. Most importantly, the uncle is very kind to remind and informed us their food portion is big, asked us not to order so much food. It was just the two of us.

Reasonably priced seafood restaurant. The claypot toufu soup is nice (cook in a way similar to sharkfin soup). Also like their hotplate oyster omelette. For all these dishes we had, averaged out to be around RM30 per person. Note if you are a big group: reduced capacity during pandemic, their biggest table which on a normal day for 14 person can only sit 8-9. And their normal 10 pax table can only sit 5-6.

This shop is pretty easy to locate since it is along the main road. I didnt have too much of expectation since it looked pretty commercialized. The hokkien mee was cooked with fish meat of your choice. The seafood tofu soup (RM20 per pot) was my fav as it was hearty! Curry stringray (RM28) and gong po mantis shrimp (RM28) were prettyy good too. The portion was abit more than average.
